(4/5/13) National Doctors' Day is celebrated March 30th each year to recognize the efforts of doctors all over the country for the care they provide to their communities.
Each year, Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) hosts a breakfast for local physicians and Joan Esser, a member of the Workforce Team at BRMH, was charged with the efforts of recognizing local doctors at the breakfast. She shared this with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Stephanie Esser, who is a business education teacher at Lincoln High School. Mrs. Esser offered to have her Digital Imaging class students develop a project to help. The students created Medals of Honor for staff to write messages to doctors to thank them for their work over the last year. They also designed custom Wheaties boxes for each physician who serves patients at Black River Memorial Hospital.
"It was great to work with BRMH on this project," said Mrs. Esser. "It is nice to have the students work on a project that is a real-world scenario, and recognizes local physicians at the same time."
