Two Fires Keep Melrose Fire Department Busy

  • Published in News

The Melrose Fire Department has been kept busy this week with a pair of structure fires.

The first occurred around 3 O’clock Tuesday afternoon in the town of Franklin on Bott Road.

Authorities say the house was fully involved and the roof was down by the time fire crews arrived on the scene.

That structure is a total loss.

A second fire occurred Thursday around the same time of day in Irving.

According to officials, flames were venting from the windows when fire fighters arrived on the scene. Crews from Black River Falls and Taylor as well as Melrose First Responders and the Jackson County Sheriff helped battle the blaze.

That house was saved but has heat and water damage to the interior.

The investigation into the fires continues.

Causes are still unknown although there was lightning seen in the area at the time.
