Jackson County Food Pantry Adds Hours

(4/15/13)  The Jackson County Food Pantry will add evening hours beginning on April 24 to serve working families. 

Many families work full time and still have difficulty meeting expenses.  The pantry will be open on the Wednesday before the last Thursday of each month from 4 to 6 P.M. at 420 Second Street in Taylor at the Municipal Building.

The pantry is open to Jackson County residents who meet income guidelines.

Pantry clients must bring a photo ID and a rent or utility bill with name and address on it as proof of residence.  Clients must sign forms indicating that they are income eligible.   All client information is confidential.

Clients need to bring a box or basket for the food items.  No carryout service will be available on Wednesday evenings.

Families will receive about $40 in food.  Money saved on groceries can be used to meet other family expenses.

Monthly distributions differ, but usually a family of four receives four cans of soup, four cans of vegetables, four cans of fruit, two cans of tuna, peanut butter, pasta, spaghetti sauce, two boxes of macaroni and cheese, a hamburger helper, cookies, three boxes of cereal, bread and two frozen meat items.
