Most Injured in Traffic Crash Have Returned Home

  • Published in News

All but one of the nine people injured in a weekend crash of a car and an Amish buggy in western Wisconsin are home from the hospital.

According to published reports,  37-year-old David Wengerd of Osseo will need more surgery, after he suffered lower leg injuries in the mishap. Wengerd, his wife Lydia, and their seven children in the buggy were hurt. It happened Friday night east of Whitehall of Highway 53. Trempealeau County sheriff’s deputies said a 19-year-old car driver from Strum failed to yield for the slow-moving buggy, and rear-ended the unit. Officials said inattentive driving was a factor, and the district attorney’s office will consider charges. The car driver was not hurt.
