The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association has honored WWIS with a pair of first place awards at this year's Awards for Excellence ceremony held Saturday evening at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
WWIS received first place recognition for Significant Community Impact for their work with Burger King on the VFW's Unmet Needs Program. Bob Gabrielson, station general manager and Dave Meyer spent significant time this fall, as they have for past several years working on the program, including veterans voicing commercials and remotes from Burger King.
WWIS also received first place in the category of Best Sportscast for the Monday Morning Quarterback interview segments. Interviews with Badgers Montee Ball and Travis Frederick were among those recognized.
WWIS also received a second place award for Best Feature, and third place awards for Best Hard News, Best Promotional Announcement, Best Sports Play-By-Play and Best Specialty Program.
Since 2008, WWIS had received 25 Awards for Excellence from the WBA including six first place awards.
