(5/6/13) The Black River Falls Area Foundation was originated in 1986 as a service project of the Black River Falls Rotary Club.
A committee of nine Rotarians met bi-weekly for almost a year to plan the purpose, goals, the Articles of the Foundation and a fund-raising campaign. Over the past twenty-seven years, the Foundation has grown to over four million in assets and continues to provide thousands of dollars in support to non-profit organizations in the Black River Falls area. It is the goal, with this year's fund-raiser, to provide additional funds to the Foundation to enable the organization to continue its mission well into the future.
Proceeds from other fund-raising efforts during the Service-Above-Self Award Banquet on May 17th will be given to Boys & Girls Club of Chippewa Valley – Jackson County Center, Friends Sharing Food and the Rotary sponsored Polio Plus Campaign.
You can count on a good time at the May 17th Rotary Annual Fund-Raiser at Castle Hill Supper Club. A special presentation will take place honoring Carl Holmquist with the 2013 Service-Above-Self Award for all that he has contributed to the quality of life in our area.
Another event will include a presentation by Lisa Metwaly, known as a "Kinactor" (a kind actor). Lisa, with her self-proclaimed title as "Chief Instigator of Kindness" will provide an inspirational message on making a better world by doing one act of kindness at a time.
Please join us on May 17th and help support these very worthwhile organizations! Tickets for the event are available from any Rotary member or any of the following financial institutions: Black River County Bank, Co-op Credit Union, or Jackson County Bank.
