(5/27/13) This year's growing season has brought on new challenges. The rain to date has delayed planting, resulting in few growing seasons have had slower grain planting progress than 2013.
UW Extension is holding Crop Management Field Days in the region to provide discussion on corn, soybean, insect, and weed management based on this season's weather conditions, and considerations for the remainder of the season, sponsored by Federation Cooperative.
UW Extension State Specialists, Joe Lauer, corn, Shawn Conley, small grains & soybeans, and Vince Davis, weed management, will lead discussions on what we observed so far this year.
The meetings will kick off on June 12th at 10 am in Trempealeau County at the Ron Weltzein Farm, W112 Silver Creek Road, Galesville. The next stop will begin at 2 pm at the Ken and Diane Langan Farm, N8965 County Rd F, Alma Center.
Meeting are expected to last about 2 hours. There is no charge, and everyone is invited to attend. Bring your folding lawn chairs to the workshops. Refreshments will be provided.
