The U-S Army Corps of Engineers expects to restore full camping next weekend at a park in southwest Wisconsin.
Only limited camping was allowed this past weekend at Blackhawk Park near De Soto, due to heavy rains and minor flooding. Today, the Army Corps will start doing maintenance work that will close 40-of-the-73 sites in the park’s West Loop Camping Area. The work is expected to be finished on Thursday, and the full campground is expected to be open for the weekend, as water levels recede on the nearby Mississippi River. For now, Blackhawk Park only has a small amount of camping available, and showers in the West Loop may have reduced access. Those interested in staying there are being urged to call ahead.
