The U.S. Coast Guard continues its investigation into what caused a massive four-level tug owned by Brennan Marine Inc. of La Crosse to tumble over a roller gate of Lock and Dam near Dresbach, Mn early July 3.
Deckhand Tyler Trussoni, 22, of Genoa drowned when he was trapped inside.
Law enforcement and Brennan blamed mechanical failure, high water and a strong current in the Mississippi River, but Coast Guard Lt. Collin Fogarty said the agency won’t reveal a cause until the investigation is finished. The National Transportation Safety Board is assisting.
The investigation includes interviews with two surviving crewman, witnesses and those who built the newly christened vessel, Megan McB, plus a review of its machinery records.
