(8/12/13) A Japanese artist won the third annual U-S Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship in Eau Claire during the weekend.

Takao Hayashi won the three-thousand-dollar first prize. Curtis Ingvolstad of Minnesota placed second. Many of the wooden sculptures resembled eagles, raccoons, and other wildlife. They were later auctioned off. The artists received half the proceeds, while the rest went to the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum in Eau Claire.
