Here is the information from the contractor regarding BRF downtown construction.
Beginning next Monday, 8/26/13, we will be closing STH 27 between Main St and CTH A so we can work on the big stoplight intersections at each end of the Black River Bridge. Traffic will be detoured along STH 54 to 8th St to CTH A in both directions. This will last for 10 calendar days until Wednesday September 4th, since a day will be lost due to Labor Day.
This closure and detour is necessary due to the tight working area and semi traffic movements in these intersections. Local traffic will be able to access homes and businesses north of the City Power Plant building from the north, but the road will be completely closed at the north side of the box culvert over Town Creek, in front of the Chamber of Commerce building.
We will first be working on the STH 27 northbound / STH 54 westbound lanes between D&S Street and the City Power Plant Building, this should take about 4 days....
Then we will switch over and work on the other half with traffic running along north side of the Black River Bridge, and the STH 27 northbound lanes will re-open to the interstate, but the southbound STH 27 lanes will remain closed due to the semi traffic not being able to make the left hand turn from Water St and east onto Main St. During this period, Water St. will be completely closed south of the intersection in front of the Fire Station. Traffic will have to go around the block. This again will last about 4 days.
Once complete, we will paint the striping on the road and anticipate a completion of September 6th.
