(9/17/13) "Roll out the Barrel" for the 7th Annual Black River Area Oktoberfest, taking place October 4-5, 2013, at Sand Creek Brewing Company!
"The fall of the year is a beautiful time in the Black River Falls area. The folks at Sand Creek Brewing, the Black River Falls Downtown Association and the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce (BRACC) look forward to celebrating Wisconsin's German heritage with residents and visitors," stated Barbara Brower, Executive Director of BRACC. Brower added, "This family-friendly event welcomes the young and the not-so young to spend the day enjoying quality time together."
This is the seventh year of what has grown into a grand tradition and organizers have planned a wide variety of fun activities for the whole family. Starting around 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, Fire Truck Pizza from Foster's Cheese Haus will be at Sand Creek Brewing serving up their delicious fire cooked pizzas. Brewery tours will also be available during the afternoon. To spice up the evening even more, the Garret Gilbertson band 'Toner' will provide entertainment from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday's festivities begin at 9:00 a.m. with visitors enjoying local artisans, food vendors, children's activities, the "Things That Roll - Show and Shine" Car and Motorcycle Show and a bake sale sponsored by Jackson County Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers. A variety of toe-tapping tunes kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with The Black River Falls High School Band, followed by Dave Kiral a One Man Show from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Gary Brueggen and the Ridgeland Dutchmen from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Atlantic Wave from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Throughout the day there will be brewery tours and a home brewing demonstration.
An additional event to be held this year includes a raffle fund-raiser organized by the Jackson County Wildlife Fund to help support elk reintroduction in Jackson County. Club members will be on hand selling tickets throughout the day and the prize drawings will take place at 4:00 p.m.
We are looking for craft and food vendors to participate in the day and also antique and modern car and motorcycle enthusiasts to display their vehicles. Craft vendors can rent a booth space on Pierce Street, right in front of the brewery and food vendors will be set up on Third Street. The cost for a craft booth is thirty dollars for a 10' X 10' space or forty dollars for a 10' X 20', and the fee for food vendors is $100. There will be no fee for non-profit craft and food vendors or the car and motorcycle entries. Vendor registration forms are available at BRACC or on the website at www.blackriverareaoktoberfest.com.
Kids have plenty to see and do, including games, activity tables, pumpkin decorating, inflatable games and face painting. Fevolden Farm alpacas will be on exhibit all day. In addition, the Gamecraze Rockwall will return again this year so kids young and old can try their skill at climbing.
And what Oktoberfest would be complete without food and drink? Plenty of tasty treats will be available, with several food vendors including Burnstad's, providing their signature brats, all washed down with a variety of Sand Creek brews and Frostop Root Beer. Commemorative steins, custom designed specifically for this years' event, will be available for purchase again this year and each one comes with a free beverage ticket.
Sand Creek Brewing Company is located at 320 Pierce St. in Black River Falls. The Oktoberfest is sponsored by the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce, the Black River Falls Downtown Association, Burnstad's Market and Sand Creek Brewing Company.
