(9/21/13) A report released by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation this week included September's Crop Production report.
According to the survey, Wisconsin corn production is forecast at 465 million bushels, up 16 percent from 2012. Based on September 1 conditions, corn yield is forecast at 143 bushels per acre, down 1 bushel from last month's forecast. Soybeans were forecast at 66.8 million bushels, 5 percent below last year's final production. Yield is expected to be 40.0 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from last month and 1.5 bushels lower than 2012. The report forecasted corn production in the US up less than a percent from last month, but up 28 percent from 2012, soybeans down three percent from August, but up four percent from last year. It's expected the US will harvest just over 89-million acres of corn and nearly 76 and a half million acres of soybeans this year. ~Tony Hart
