A Menominee Falls
man will have to pay 843-thousand dollars to settle an alleged Ponzi scheme. The
U-S Securities and Exchange Commission says 58-year-old Michael Enea agreed to a
settlement on allegations he milked investors in Wisconsin and Illinois out of
two-million dollars, from June 2006 to this past May. The S-E-C says all of the
investor funds have dissipated, adding a good chunk of it was spent on several
personal expenses.


University of
Wisconsin-Madison Police say a woman was sexually assaulted near campus early
yesterday morning. Police say the victim was walking near the 700 block of West
Dayton Street at around 2:30 a.m., when she was approached by a man and
assaulted. The assailant is described as a Hispanic man in his twenties; about
6-foot-3, medium built, a goatee and wearing a gray UW-Madison sweatshirt and
blue jeans. In response to the crime, police are reminding students to be aware
of their surroundings, especially at night. Anyone with information on the
sexual assault should contact University or Madison


Scientists say the
upcoming limited wolf hunt season in the state could destabilize its population.
Wolves were removed from the federal endangered list just two years ago, the
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources say an estimated 800 wolves are living
in the state. Wolf season begins on Tuesday with D-N-R allowing a recommended
harvest of 275 wolves. However, ecologists at UW-Madison say a population of 350
wolves in the state would be too low to
