(10/21/13) Black River Memorial donated IV supplies and airway equipment to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department's Emergency Response Team.
"Connecting patients with valued healthcare providers and services and enhancing the health and well-being of all people we serve is part of our mission at Black River Memorial Hospital. This team provides a very necessary service for the citizens of Jackson County and we are happy to assist this team in their mission," stated Surgical Services Manager, Michele Koch, RN.
This is a group of 20 individuals that consists of County and State law enforcement officers, FBI-trained hostage negotiators, and two physicians. The team responds to law enforcement emergency situations such as active shooters, hostage situations, and armed and dangerous suspects and trains monthly for different scenarios.
The National Tactical Officers Association recommends that each team have Tactical Medical Providers to administer on-scene medical care. Dr. Kirk Lane and Dr. Kevin Anderson of the Krohn Clinic serve in this capacity.
