(11/12/13) UW-Extension will offer an overview of what the Affordable Care Act (ACA) means for farms, both as small employers and the self-employed on December 3, 2013 from 6:30-9pm.
It will be held at the Polk County Government Center in Balsam Lake. This presentation will be a webinar that will be broadcast to 21 counties around the state, coordinated by local Extension staff.
The webinar will provide highlights of what ACA requirements are already in place and the changes beginning in 2014. Heidi Johnson, the Dane County Agriculture Agent, will talk about what the law will mean for both farm families purchasing their own health insurance and farms, as small businesses, exploring the option of providing health insurance for their employees.
The workshop will cover how to access the online marketplaces to shop for health insurance for individuals, families and for employers considering offering insurance to their employees.
Our location will have Mike Rust from ABC for Health in Polk County, a great local resource for people looking for individual help with their questions regarding the health care act or signing up for insurance in the marketplace, available to answer questions.
This event is free, but you are encouraged to pre-register. To register, please contact Polk County UW-Extension at 715-485-8600.
