(11/15/13) The Tomah Area Convention & Visitors Bureau has received the Destination Marketing Organization certification by the Wisconsin Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (WACVB).
WACVB awards the certification to destination marketing organizations , whether a convention & visitor bureau or chamber of commerce, that meet a set of stringent destination marketing, organizational, financial and personnel standards. Standards include having a non-profit organization that clearly recognizes the connection between tourism promotion and economic prosperity and provides several destination marketing services to visitors.
"In order to be certified, a destination marketing organization must document that it meets every standard, and is operating at a high level," WACVB Executive Director Julia Hertel said. "The Tomah Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is doing that and is to be congratulated for their fine work."
WACVB initiates cooperative ventures among Wisconsin's top destination marketing organizations to enhance the Wisconsin tourism industry's promotional, educational and legislative efforts. WACVB has 39 members, 22 of which have received their certification, representing more than $40 million in tourism promotional budgets that drive tourism growth in Wisconsin.
