Millston Couple Lose Home in Blaze

(12/14/13) A Friday the Thirteenth fire in the Township of Millston has left a family without a home.

According Black River Falls Fire Chief Steve Schreiber, his department was paged just after 11-o'clock yesterday morning for a structure fire at W6835 Coffey Road just off US Highway 12. A passerby had discovered the fire and went to a local business to place the 911 call. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy fire engulfing a mobile home owned by Rian Zirk. Zirk's parents, Rodney and Thyra Zirk lived at the residence and reported leaving just 30-minutes before the fire was reported. Chief Schreiber says the home a total loss. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The family was using a wood stove, but it does not appear to be the cause of the blaze. Firefighters were on scene for 3.5 hours with mutual aid from the Town of Lincoln Fire Department. The American Red Cross provided firefighter rehab and is assisting the displaced couple.
