UW Extension will be hosting a Dairy Modernization workshop in La Crosse and Eau Claire counties on January 28th, 2014. This program will be free for anyone to attend.
The Dairy Modernization workshop will feature guest speaker, Jack Rodenburg "retired" from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture in 2008 after 34 years in dairy extension in Ontario Canada, where he specialized in "production systems and automation". He was there when the first commercial robotic milking systems arrived in North America in 1999 and has worked closely with robotic milking herds, and other forms of "precision technology" for nearly 25 years. His one man consulting company, DairyLogix, has designed robotic milking barns and advised robot owners in Canada and the USA, as well as in Holland, Belgium, Sweden and Finland.
Topics that will be covered at the workshop include:
"Success Factors for Robotic Milking" presented by Jack Rodenburg, retired Ontario Minister of Agriculture. Jack will share his "baker's dozen" principles for robotic barn design or renovation, as well as practical advice for start up, and day to day management.
