JCI Employee Charged

(1/10/14) An employee at the Jackson Correctional Institution is charged after investigators say she delivered cell phones to some inmates for money.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says 52-year-old Karen Lee Robertson, from Sparta, was providing alcohol and drug counseling at the prison. Deputies were notified late last month by staff members that two cell phones were recovered from inmates inside the facility. Investigators say Robertson worked with the inmates to deliver the cell phones and the inmates used outside resources to pay her.

Robertson was in court on Thursday where she was given a $5,000 signature bond.
