(2.3.14) Wisconsin's public school choice program began today.
It's better known as the "Open Enrollment" program. It allowed almost 49-thousand public school students to attend other public schools outside their districts in the current school year. Parents wishing to send their kids to other districts can apply by April 30th -- and if there's room, they're likely to get in. Parents will be notified by June sixth whether their applications will be approved. The public school choice program began in the fall of 1998 in Wisconsin. Almost 25-hundred youngsters attended other districts in the first year.
