The outlook for commodities has changed dramatically in the past year. Land rental rates have been rising leaving some farmers are looking for ways to hedge their bets on land. This webinar will address input costs, flexible rent options, and importance of written contracts. Area farmers and land owners are welcome to attend.
The UW Extension is offering a webinar on "Ag Land Values and Renting Farm Land" on Thursday, March 6th from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. The webinar can be joined from your web browser at home by contacting the UW Extension, or by attending the session at the UW Extension office in Black River Falls.

1:00 Introduction to Land Values and Leases typical around the region – Arlin Brannstrom
Discussion will include a breakdown of how land prices are changing around the state &
what might be changing land rental demand going forward.
1:20 Corn & Bean Economics 2012 ‐ Review of Enterprise Budgets 2013 ‐ Jim Leverich
This segment will include factors to consider when renting land to grow corn and beans on in
the coming year.
1:40 Lease Contracts and Legal Concerns – Phil Harris
Many rental agreements are on a handshake. Phil will cover the legal issues involved with
renting farm assets and what makes for a legal contract.
2:10 Resource Summary ‐ Ag Lease 101 – Arlin Brannstrom
Ag lease 101 is a multistate resource site that has been developed to provide information to
renters and landlords.
2:20 Local Land & Rental Discussion – Ryan Swatek
The value of conservation in your rental contract – resources available.
