Ho-Chunk Nation and Beloit Agree on Casino

(1/8/12) Beloit city officials have reportedly signed a preliminary agreement with officials of the Ho-Chunk Nation for a casino to be built there.  A town hall meeting on the plans for the casino will be held Tuesday at the Beloit Public Library.  Supporters say a casino could create thousands of jobs for the area and lead to additional development.  It is possible, city officials say, that the casino would lead the way to hotels, a theater, convention halls and retail stores.  More than a dozen years ago, 61 percent of the voters in Beloit approved the idea of a casino in the area.  A formal public hearing will also be held January 17th.
