Two people are dead after a pair of separate crashes in Jackson County Friday.

Motorcycle Crash in Vernon County

(8/10/12) Authorities in southwest Wisconsin say speed-and-alcohol were both factors in a motorcycle crash that killed a Minnesota man. Vernon County sheriff's deputies said 45-year-old Richard Arneson of Stewartville lost control of his bike on a curve. It rolled down an embankment before it hit a tree. The crash occurred yesterday afternoon near Viroqua on Highway 56.


Disabled Hunter Applications for Fort McCoy

(8/9/12)  Disabled hunters now can apply for permits for a special Oct. 6-7 gun-deer hunt at Fort McCoy. Applications will be accepted until Monday, Sept. 10.  The annual hunt is open to individuals with Wisconsin Category A, B, C and D disabilities.  For an application or more information, call the Fort McCoy Permit Sales office, building 2168, at 608-388-3337 or visit the website


Alternative Energy Show at BRF

 (8/9/12) Exhibits, demonstrations, workshops and presentations relating to renewable energy, alternative energy, conservation, recycling, and sustainable living take center stage at the 2nd Annual Green Life Xpo in Black River Falls, WI, on Saturday, August 25th.  The show runs from 9 am to 4 pm at Milt Lunda Memorial Arena at Fair Park, highway 54, on the city's west side. 


Monroe County Celebrates National Night Out

(8/8/12) Monroe County officials celebrated the anniversary of National Night Out with more than four-hundred and fifty area residents in Tomah's Winnebago Park on Tuesday night.

(8/8/12) Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) Hospice program is looking for volunteers who are interested in helping those in need.


Jackson County Fair Carcass Show/Awards Program

(8/7/12) Jackson County Fair Livestock Exhibitors, the livestock carcass show will be held  Monday, August, 13th  7 p.m. at the Black River Falls Middle School Commons.  Carcass contest results and educational program will be presented, and trophies, ribbons and auction checks will be awarded.  Exhibitors are expected to have an addressed, stamped thank you note for the buyer upon accepting their check.
