Wayne Eugene Vanderheyden Jr., 67, of Millston, Wisconsin was born on May 21, 1948, and died on April 29, 2016.

Wayne has finally soared with his beloved eagles. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Sr. & Phyllis Wildey Vanderheyden. Wayne fought in Vietnam, deployed with his communications outfit in Hoi An. Wayne had to continue to fight this battle as he lived with the life-long effects of PTSD and Agent Orange. Wayne was indebted to his fellow soldiers from his Tomah VA support group. Wayne was excited to make an important visit to Washington, DC in 2013.

Wayne was lovingly and faithfully cared for by his wife and friend of over 25 years, Susan (Thompson) Vanderheyeden. Wayne is further survived by a child, Paul Vanderheyden, grandchildren and great-children, a brother, James Vanderheyen and a sister Colleen Jones as well as all the Thompson Turtles and many friends and relatives.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 am - Noon on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Torgerson Funeral Home, 408 N. Water Street, Black River Falls, WI. A Celebration of Life will begin at Noon at the Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the cemetery in Millston, WI and a meal at the Millston Community Center. A big thank you to the staff and volunteers of Black River Falls Memorial Hospital Hospice as well as the staff of the Primary Care Home Based Program at the Tomah VA.
