(6/15/12) Gary E. Gaede, age 67, of Black River Falls, WI. died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the Veteran's Administration Nursing Home in Tomah, WI. where he had resided for the last year due to several strokes and a seizure.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1945 in Black River Falls to Ralph and Evangeline (Zillmer) Gaede.
Gary graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1963. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army on April 7, 1966. He served in Vietnam for 18-months and was discharged on March 25, 1968. He was very proud to have served in Vietnam.
He worked at Northern Engraving, the Jackson County Iron Mine, and Fort McCoy. He retired in 2000.
Gary met and married Kathleen Oyen on Sept. 20, 1969. They had two daughters Dawn of LaCrosse and Melissa of Black River Falls. The couple were later legally separated.
In addition to his wife and daughters, he was also survived by two brothers, Larry (Susan) Gaede and Mike (Luanne) Gaede both of Black River Falls, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial funeral services followed by military honors will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from the Buswell Funeral Home (715-284-2231) 106 So. Second St.; Black River Falls. Pastor Cal Thoreson will conduct services and burial will be at a later date in Peace Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Little Falls in Monroe County. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 A.M until the time of services.
Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Veterans Park.
