(7/17/12) Ruth Viola Soper, age 81 of La Crosse, Wisconsin and formerly of Black River Falls passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Mayo Clinic-Francisican Healthcare in La Crosse.
Ruth was born in Black River Falls, Wisconsin on January 6, 1931 to Samuel and Julia (Kalstad) Stenulson. Ruth was joined in marriage to Milan C. Soper on July 14, 1948. Ruth's pastimes were filled with tending her rosebushes and spending time with her family. She was an avid Euchre player but her real passion was playing Video Slots, especially the Red White & Blue.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary J. Grenier of Onalaska, sons, Michael Soper of Rochester, Minnesota, and David Soper of La Crosse, granddaughters, Angela (Ben) Horstman of Bangor and Danyel Allen of La Crosse, great-granddaughters, Brianna Allen, Abbigail and Avery Marx, great-grandson, Wyatt Horstman, and her little dog, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son, Charles, sister, Esther Johnson, brothers, Irwin, Kenneth, Mahlon, Lawrence, Truman, and Sanford.
A memorial service will be held at the Squaw Creek Lutheran Church in Black River Falls on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Calvin Thoreson officiating with internment to follow at the Squaw Creek Lutheran cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the Dickinson family funeral home (809 Gillette Street, La Crosse) on Tuesday, July 17 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service.
