(10/29/12) Bernard E. Kling, age 82, of Merrillan, WI. died Sunday evening, October 28, 2012 in his home in the Town of Komensky, Jackson County.
Bernard was born on August 6, 1930 in the Township of Millston, Jackson County to William G. and Goldie (Ketchum) Kling.
He attended City Point, Hatfield, and Clay Rural Schools. He graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1948.
Following graduation, he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from Mar. 27, 1951 until March 20, 1953. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was assigned to an engineering unit.
Bernard married Rosemarie Wold on Aug. 23, 1967 in Haines, Alaska. The couple lived in Hatfield until moving into their new home in the Town of Komensky.
Bernard operated a pulp harvesting business, and he did mossing. For many years, he served as a guide in Alaska for 2-months each year.
When he was younger, he enjoyed water-skiing. He loved to hunt, fish, and trap.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemarie, one sister, Patricia (Ron) Kautz, one sister-in-law, Michelle Kling, both of Hatfield, 6-nephews, and numerous great and great, great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Conrad, and his brother, Duane Kling.
Private, memorial graveside services with military honors will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Millston, WI. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be given to Black River Memorial Hospice.
