Joseph B. Ross

(11-16-12)  Joseph "Joe" B. Ross, 78, of Northfield, WI, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center, Chippewa Falls, WI. 

He was born June 6, 1934 in Plummer, Pennsylvania to Samuel and Viola (Grant) Ross.

Joseph grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Oil City High School.  Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force in January 1954.  He was stationed in many different locations, one of which was London, England, where he was united in marriage to Lilian Smith on May 31, 1958.  In June 1962, he was discharged from the Air Force.

He moved to Wisconsin in 1966 and to Hixton in 1972 before settling in Northfield in 1990. 

Joe worked as a farmer and during that time he also worked for Farmers Coop, Hixton from 1983 until his retirement in 2004.

Joe enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, enjoyed playing solitaire, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Lilian; children, Joseph (Jana) Ross of Black River Falls, WI, Dena (Donald) Olsen of Oak Creek, WI, Jeffery (Brenda) Ross of Eau Claire, WI, Debra Ross of Northfield, Mary (Mike) Giese of Alma Center, WI, John (Diane) Ross of Black River Falls, Nancy (Michael) Steig of Northfield; 13 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Betty Johnston of Amherst, OH, Edward (Ida) Ross of Eleva,WI, Maurice (Lila) Ross of Middlesburg, FL, Earl (Ann) Ross, and Samuel (Marge) Ross both of Pennsylvania; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Viola; sister, Mary; brothers, Charles and Robert.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012, 7:00 p.m., at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, WI. Reverend David Johnson will be officiating.

Family and friends are invited for visitation Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton is assisting the family with arrangements.
