(12/20/12) LeRoy P. Wier, 68, of Arcadia passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at his home.
LeRoy was born on February 25, 1944, in Arcadia to Ernest and Stella (Keller) Wier. He married JoAnne Pape on October 18, 1980, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fountain City. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Arcadia. LeRoy and JoAnne, along with his brother, Jerome, farmed in Rainey Valley raising beef cattle. LeRoy was also employed by the Arcadia Public Schools as a custodian and maintenance technician for 48 years. He was an avid hunter, traveling out west several times for large game, and enjoyed boating and the outdoors. LeRoy also enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Wayne, and the two dogs, Banyon and Amber.
LeRoy is survived by his wife JoAnne of Arcadia; daughter, Tammie (Robert) Thompson of Whitehall; grandson, Wayne Thompson of Whitehall; brother, Jerome of Arcadia; and sister, Evangeline (Marty) Choate of Chandler, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Orville.
Funeral Services for LeRoy will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Bethel Lutheran Church, rural Arcadia with Reverend Jon N. Cox officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, 1378 E. Wilson Ave., in Arcadia, where there will be a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. They are also welcome one hour prior to the service at church on Sunday. Burial will be in the Arcadia Public Cemetery, Arcadia. Wozney-Killian Funeral Home is assisting his family with arrangements.
