(1-31-13) Helen Alice O'Hearn, 97, of Melrose passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at Family Heritage Care Center, Black River Falls, Wis.
Helen was born Jan. 25, 1916, in Melrose to Fred and Emma (Beck) Yeskie. She grew up on a farm and attended the one room West Indies School. She was united in marriage to Oliver L. O'Hearn on Sept. 2, 1934. Oliver died in March of 1977. Helen was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was an avid reader and sports fan.
Helen was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church and a past Eastern Star member.
Survivors are her children, Ann Grunewald of Oconomowoc, Wis., O. Gary (Barbara) O'Hearn of Portage, Wis., Judith (Gary) Larkin of Portage; six grandchildren, Lauren Grunewald, Jodee (Ken) Laabs, Timothy (Susie) Larkin, Patrick (Marianne) O'Hearn, Lisbeth (Doug) Bellin, Ryan (Pirjo) O'Hearn; and nine great-grandchildren. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey in 2000; two brothers, Leonard (Ruby) Yeskie, Melvin (Joyce) Yeskie; and two sisters, Irene (Richard) Megrath and Marie (Richard) Bitters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, from Melrose United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roberta Nowicki officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Melrose United Methodist Church.
