(5/15/13) Alan W. "Al" Carlson, age 62, of Black River Falls, WI. and formerly of Alma Center and Eau Claire, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in his home in Black River Falls.
Al was born on July 18, 1950 in Black River Falls to William and Jean (Stein) Carlson. He was raised in Alma Center and graduated from Alma Center Lincoln High School in 1968.
He served in the U. S. Navy from 1968-1972.
On May 26, 1979, he married Patricia Lien at the Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, Taylor, WI. The couple were later divorced.
Al worked for the United States Postal Service in Black River Falls and Eau Claire from 1986-2005. Following his retirement, he returned to Black River Falls.
Al enjoyed painting, art, photography, travelling, playing cards, gambling, and fine foods.
Surviving are one son, Ian (Rachel) Carlson, Black River Falls, one daughter, Jenifer (David) Raney, Eau Claire, WI., 2-brothers, Michael Carlson, Black River Falls, WI,and Randy (Jessica) Carlson, Evansville, WI., 5-sisters, Clara (Richard) Huseboe, Taylor, WI., Rose (John) Rasmus, Madison, WI., Susan Jones and Barbara Stevens, both of Evansville, WI. and Debbie Carlson, Oshkosh, WI., 3-grandchildren, Abagail and Jonathan Carlson, and Nadya Raney, numerous nieces and nephews, his former wife, Patricia Congdon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Carlson, and one sister, Mary.
Memorial funeral services, followed by military honors, for Alan W. "Al" Carlson, will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Torgerson's Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St. Black River Falls. Services will be conducted by Rev. Terry Marg.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
