Thomas William Thurston

(5/22/13) Thomas William Thurston age 66 of Sparta passed away at his home in Cataract Sunday May 19th.

He was surrounded by his loving family, who have supported him through his war with cancer.

 He was born in Sparta February 13th, 1947 to Bill and Ardell (Berry) Thurston. Tom graduated from Sparta High School in 1965.  He served in the 32nd Red Arrow Division for 6 years.

 Tom worked at Foss Locker Plant with his dad until he bought his own business in 1983.  His grandson Darrick Thurston and his wife Tiffany continue to own and operate Tom's Custom Meats of Cataract.

 Tom had many interests in life.  He demonstrated love for family.  Tom was an avid bow hunter and fisherman.  He passed this passion for bow hunting on to many of the younger generations.  He also enjoyed gardening and landscaping.

 Tom is survived by his wife Mary, sons David (Teresa), and Andy (Renee). Grandsons Darrick (Tiffany), Trevor, and James. Grandaughter Kelsey. Great Grandaughters' Hadley and Maddie. Sisters JoAnne Crocker, Kathy (Ron) Sanders, Linda (Eldie) Erickson, Tari Lea Skinner (Chad), and Brother Jeff (Marsha) Thurston and his special nephew and friend Randy Culpitt.

 Tom was preceded in death by his parents Ardell and Bill Thurston.

 The celebration of life for Tom will be held at the Cataract Sportsman's Club Saturday May 25th from 11 AM until 5 PM. Lunch will be available. He will be greatly missed.
