(7/1/13) Edith M. Rewald, age 93, of Black River Falls and formerly of Waukesha, WI. passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Pine View Care Center in Black River Falls where she was known for her beautiful smile.

Edith was born on February 4, 1920 in Waukesha, WI. to Arthur and Margaret (Koeffler) Reimer.  She attended Waukesha High School and earned a scholarship in Economics at Carroll College where she double majored in Economics and English.  She became an English teacher and was hired by the Burlington School District after graduation.  In Burlington, while playing "Run, My Good Sheep Run", she met Arthur Rewald and they always joked they met in the bushes.  They were married in Canton, Ohio on April 1, 1944 while Art was serving in the Army Air Corps.

After Art was out of the military, they moved back to Waukesha and raised four children.  Edith started teaching English at Waukesha (now South) High School.  She was the newspaper advisor for "The Cardinal Star" and taught 11th grade English until her retirement.  After Art retired, they moved to Highland Village in Lakeland, Florida where they lived until Art's death May 20, 2004.  They celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Edith moved to The Terrace in Black River Falls in 2005.  She enjoyed being the secretary of the Tenant Council as writing always brought her joy.  She enjoyed the friends she made there and meeting others in the community.  In 2009, she moved to the Pine View Care Center.

Edith believed in education and ensured her children were educated.  She believed in empowering women through education and was always willing to help a person in need.  She enjoyed politics, Brewer's Baseball, reading, and travelling.  She had visited Europe, Egypt, and Israel and cruised through the Panama Canal on their 50th wedding anniversary.  She was always anxious to learn more and passed that on to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Michael Rewald, Winston-Salem, N.C., Deborah Jansen, Naples, Fl., Stephen (Jill Nielson) Rewald, Dousman, WI., and Margaret (Allen Barnes) Rewald, Black River Falls, WI., grandchildren, Michael (Kevin Brown) Palm Springs, CA., Richard, Riverside, Ca., Stephen (Krissy Montgomery), Vancouver, B.C., and Maura (Julius II) Carter, and the grandchildren's mother, Mary Kay Rewald, her step grandchildren, Jennifer, Josh, and Jamie Preston, Bruce (Shawna) Barnes, and Bob Nielson, and step great grandchildren and other relatives.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Terry Preston, nephew, John Rewald, her brothers, Martin, Wilbur (Lucille), and her husband's brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 3, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Black River Falls.  Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh will conduct services and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Beloit, WI. on Friday, July 5, 2013.  Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 4 until 6 P.M. at the Buswell Funeral Home (715-284-2231) 106 So. 2nd St.; Black River Falls and on Wednesday at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
