(9-20-13) Sydney P. Harris, age 85, of Black River Falls, WI. and Eau Claire, WI. died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 in Eau Claire, WI. while under the care of Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice.
He was born in Sandusky, Ohio on Aug. 18, 1928 to Sydney L. and Ethel (Lilly) Harris.
He served in U. S. Army from 1945-52 and was stationed mostly in Germany. He helped prepare a number of cases for war crimes in Munich and Nuremberg.
He attended Georgetown School of Foreign Service, in Washington, D.C. where he majored in international affairs.
Sid worked as a securities analyst at the American Security and Trust Co. in Washington, D.C., and as a commercial reporter for Dun & Bradstreet. He was president and CEO of World Products Exchange, and import/export business in Northbrook, Il.. He sold emergency signaling systems to police and fire departments for Brooks Optronics in San Francisco. He owned and operated Rodeway Sign Company in Black River Falls from 1976 until 2003. From 2003 until the present, he operated Biomate Corporation, a medical device distributor, in Black River Falls.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Harris, 3-sons, Karl (Dena) Harris, Milwaukee, WI., twins, James (Debra) Harris, Merrill, WI. and Paul (Ann) Harris, McHenry, Il., 1-sister, Jeanne (Larry) Lawler, MI., 1-step-son, Brian (Victoria) VanAller, Washington, 2-step daughters, Cheryl (Gordy) Harris, Modesto, Ca., and Kathleen Myher, Eau Claire, WI., 3-step sisters, Bodie Saltow, Co., Delores Binder O'Dell, and Dorothy Binder, 4-grandchildren, and 1-step grandchild.
Private visitation for Sydney P. Harris will be held at Torgerson's Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St.; Black River Falls. There will be no funeral services.
