Born, June 23, 1925 in New Baden, Illinois, Marty was one of seven children born to Robert and Elizabeth (Galloway) Berens. She graduated from O'Fallon, Illinois High School in 1943. On September 25, 1945, she married Edward Lee Woods at St. Clare Catholic Church in O'Fallon. With Ed being in the education profession, the couple resided in various communities including Cape Girardeau and St. Genevieve, Missouri, and Waukegan and Joliet, Illinois. Together they enjoyed traveling and establishing Haven Hill Orchard.
Following Ed's death on March 21, 1993, Marty resided on the home place in the Township of North Bend, until January 2001 when she moved to Pine View Terrace in Black River Falls. While residing there, she enjoyed socializing with the other tenants, serving on the Terrace Tenant Council, and numerous outings, not to mention countless visits with family and friends. Visits from her grandchildren and great grand-children, who called her "Nana", were among her most precious memories. She resided there until moving to Pine View Care Center in October of 2013. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church and a past member of St. Kevin's Parish Council of Catholic Women.
Marty will always be remembered for her love of flowers, hugs, and kind heart.

She is also survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Battoe, O'Fallon, IL, and a sister-in-law, Nellie Berens, of Belleville, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
