Roland "Rollie" J. Sonsalla

(2-21-14) Roland "Rollie" J. Sonsalla, 78, of Arcadia passed way on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Gundersen Lutheran Health System in La Crosse.

Roland was born on May 22, 1935, in Arcadia to Clifford and Rose (Giemza) Sonsalla.

Roland was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1956 to 1958, being stationed in Japan. He retired from Wilber Lime Products of Arcadia, WI after being employed with them for 22 ½ years. During his retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting, socializing, and going for rides. Roland was a member of the Arcadia Sportsman's Club, Whitetail Unlimited and was the "Mayor of Newcomb Valley".

Roland is survived by the love of his life, Verna Dabelstein of Arcadia; step son, James (Janel Sylla) Dabelstein of Independence; two step daughters: Dawn (Virgil Sr.) Perry of Blair, Marilyn (Hal Boe) Dabelstein of Trempealeau; sister, Lorraine (James) Shoemaker of Whitehall; nieces: Donna (Gary Rebarchek) Shoemaker, Dee Ann (Mike) Anderson; great nephews: Drew and Micah Anderson; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bonnie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish with Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Friends may call on Sunday at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home form 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM where there will be a 7:00 PM prayer service followed by a rosary. They may also call on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, rural Arcadia.
