(3/24/14) Eugenia T. "Jean" Chmielecki, age 93, of the Town of Komensky, Jackson County, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, in the Neillsville Care and Rehab Center.
Jean was born in Milwaukee, WI on Aug. 16, 1920 to Anton and Eugenia (Henning) Friedel.
She was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from West Division High School.
Jean married Raymond J. Chmielecki in Milwaukee on November 15, 1941.
Jean retired from the Marshal Fields Company in Wauwatosa, WI.
After moving to the Town of Komensky in Jackson County in 1983, Jean became very involved in the community. She was a past member of the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, and she volunteered at the Black River Memorial Hospital where she managed the gift shop for many years.
She was a past member of the red hat society and assisted with the organizing of many parades in Hatfield. She also assisted other organizations.
Surviving are her daughter, Maureen (Lawrence) Behling, Waukesha, WI, 5-grandchildren, Christopher (Leslie) Konicki, Humbird, WI, Chad Konicki, Mukwonago, WI, Rebecca (Schaun) Dixon, Ingalls, MI., Jeffrey (Tanna) Behling and Timothy Behling, both of Scottsdale, AZ., 7-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Chmielecki, and her son, Raymond A.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 407 Main St.; Black River Falls. Services will be conducted by Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh and burial will be in the Komensky Cemetery in the Town of Komensky, Jackson County. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
