(6/20/14) Ruth Ann Pierzyna, 77, of Arcadia passed away on June 20, 2014, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ruth was born on September 10, 1936, in Arcadia to Benedict and Anna (Fonfara) Bautch. She attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School for 8 years and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1954. She married Leonard Pierzyna on June 29, 1957, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia. Ruth worked at Arcadia Furniture Industries and at the Arcadia Public School. During this time she also worked for Father Moczarny and Father Hagmann. She then transitioned to working at the Arcadia Post Office carrying mail for 7 years, and then became the window clerk for the remainder of her career. She retired on November 30, 2009.
Ruth was a member of Holy Family Parish and the PCCW, "rosary society". Ruth and her husband Leonard were very active in the parish, never missing a mass. Ruth got up faithfully every morning and walked 2 miles. She enjoyed stopping at any rummage sale near and far. After retirement she was a devoted caretaker to her husband, Leonard, during his battle with Parkinson's. Leonard preceded her in death on January 18, 2014.
Ruth is survived by her son, Scott (Roxanne) Pierzyna of Red Wing, MN, grandchildren: John, Katherine, Amanda, Scott Jr. and twins, Jacob and Zachary; great grandchildren: Joshua, Evey, and Milo; 2 brothers: Jerald "Jack" Bautch, Wayne "Bucky" (Jane) Bautch both of Arcadia; and 1 sister, Barbara (Keith) Cilley of Woodbury, MN; sister-in-law, Marian Klonecki, and brothers-in-law, Richard and Ronald Pierzyna all of La Crosse. Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, husband, Leonard and daughter, Kathleen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish with Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in rural Arcadia.
