Diane C. "Mrs. Edsel" Johnson

(7-24-14)Diane C. Johnson, age 76, of Hixton, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Black River Memorial Hospital.

Diane was born on November 7, 1937 in Black River Falls to Elmer and Myrtle (Bue) Anderson. She was raised on the Anderson family farm and attended the one room school house in Pine Creek. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1956.

She married Edsel Johnson Sr. on November 18, 1956 at the First Lutheran Church in Blair, WI. Diane and Edsel moved to Rochester, MN and it was there that they began their life together as a US Air Force family. Later Edsel's career took them to Duluth, MN and Marquette, MI until his retirement in 1971. They returned to Black River Falls and eventually moved to the family farm in Pine Creek.

She was a loving and caring mother of six children. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends and would always have a cup of coffee ready for her guests. She twice won the Jackson County Fair dessert contest. She loved polka dancing, playing cards, and stoking up the kitchen cook stove. She volunteered for the Jackson County Tele care and was a member of the Black River Falls Hospital Auxiliary. Diane was also a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Black River Falls, Wisconsin.

Survivors include, husband Edsel Johnson Sr., Hixton: children: Mark (Liz) Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO; Edsel Jr. (Lorri) Johnson, Merrillan; Joel (Karen) Johnson, Onalaska; Steve Johnson, Stillwater, MN; and special friends, Linda Eddy, Deanna (Mike) Cooper, Las Vegas, NV, James (Sheida) Johnson, North Aurora, IL; two brothers Verdal (Hilma) Anderson, Fort Atkinson, WI, twin brother Duane (Mary Louise) Anderson, Walsenberg, CO and one sister Judy (Clark) Hulett, Taylor, WI. She further is survived by twelve grandchildren: Mark (Shannon) Malone, Andrew Johnson, Emily Johnson, Jesse (Jessica) Lien, Joel (Sarah) Johnson, Cole (Marie) Johnson, Brittany (John) Dissmore, Jeremiah Johnson, Veronica Johnson, Carsen Cooper, Jett Cooper, and Ameen Johnson and; eleven great grandchildren.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Myrtle (Bue) Anderson.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Black River Falls. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Black River Falls with Pastor Eric Bakken officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at the Sechlerville Cemetery in Hixton, WI. Memorials may be given to either Jackson County Tele care or Evangelical Lutheran Church of Black River Falls.
