"Bill" Wilcox, age 88, of Black River Falls, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 in his home in Black River Falls while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.  /12) (1/26Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2012 from the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, 115 N. 5th St..  Burial with military honors will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. Relatives and friends may call at Torgerson's Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St. on Friday from 4 until 7 P.M. and at the church on Saturday from 1 P.M. until the time of services.  There will be a public Masonic Service at the funeral home on Friday at 6:45 P.M.    Memorials may be given to the Black River Memorial Hospice.

(Hendricks) Berry, 90, of Cataract, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.  A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend Cassandra M. Sauter officiating. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.  Family and friends are invited to call at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. "Bud" Hagen, 98, of Black River Falls and formerly of Hixton joined his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at his home, while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hixton. Reverend Loren Anderson-Bauer will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sparta, WI. (1-20-12) Jerrold A. Waugh, 62 of Tomah, died suddenly on January 20, 2012 in Dyer, Indiana. Joanne M. Lanctot, age 74, of Black River Falls, WI. died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 in the Hillview Health Care Center in LaCrosse.

Donald C. Ripp

Donald C. Ripp, 82, of Merrillan, WI, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Black River Memorial Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, January 23, 2012, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Alma Center.  Father Emmanuel Famiyeh will be officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alma Center.  Family and friends are invited for visitation Sunday, January 22, 2012, 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton.  Family and friends are also invited to visitation Monday, January 23, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church.

George O. Gluch

(1/19/12) George O. Gluch, Jr., 65, of Tomah, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 with his loving family by his side at the Tomah Veterans Hospital.  A celebration of life service will be held at January 21, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tomah, Wisconsin. The Reverend Mark Benning will officiate.  Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Curtis-McNutt V.F.W. Post 1382. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street,Tomah and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

 

Bernard A. Waege

Bernard A. Waege, 64 of Sparta, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Tomah.

Ernest G. Giemza

(1/18/12)  Ernest G. Giemza, 75, of Arcadia, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at his home.

Ernest was born February 22, 1936 in Arcadia Township, Trempealeau County, to Albert and Angeline (Sobotta) Giemza.  He married Mary Ann Stanislawski on May 18, 1963 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, North Creek.

Ernest served in the U.S. Army.  He worked for Joe Roskos Distributing, was a milk hauler for Pehler Trucking, worked at the Blair Cheese Factory and farmed in North Creek.  He enjoyed watching horse pulling events.  He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1654 in Arcadia.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Arcadia; three daughters, Mary Jane (Jon) Olson of Arcadia, Catherine (Mark) Kulig of Columbia, Mo. and Theresa Giemza of Arcadia; three brothers, Dominic Giemza of Arcadia, Albert Giemza Jr. of Independence and Joe Giemza of Arcadia; three sisters, Delores Welciek of White Bear Lake, Minn., Romelle (Loren) Subra of Blair and Mary (Dave) Hestekin of Whitehall; two grandchildren, Noah and Samuel Olson; a step-grandchild, Jonny Olson; two sisters-in-law, Doris Giemza and Jane Giemza, both of Arcadia; many nieces and nephews and his dog, Tippy.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Adrian Giemza; a sister. Elizabeth Giemza and a brother-in-law, George Welciek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, North Creek, rural Arcadia, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by Tickfer-Erickson American Legion Post 17.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Robert Lindbo, 85, of Hixton, WI passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Black River Memorial Hospital, while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.

Funeral service for Robert will be held, Friday, January 20, 2012, 3:00 p.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hixton.  Reverend Loren Anderson-Bauer will be officiating.  Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Trinity Rest Cemetery, Hixton.  Family and friends are invited for visitation Friday, January 20, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

(1-16-12)Janice Chopp, 75, of Black River Falls died Sunday at her home.  Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millston.  Burial will be in Shamrock Union Cemetery in the Town of Manchester, Jackson County, WI.  Friends may call from 4-7 PM Tuesday at Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

 

Genevieve Anderson

(1-14-12)  ANDERSON, Genevieve, 91, of Black River Falls, died Saturday at Black River Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Somers Community United Church of Christ in Kenosha.  Burial will be in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls is assisting the family.

 

Ardell “A.T” Thompson

(1/14/11) Ardell “A.T” Thompson age 76 of Blair, WI died on Friday January, 13, 2012 in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI

 Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Beaver Creek Parish First Lutheran Church in Rural Ettrick. Rev. Elizabeth Albertson will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Monday January 16, 2012 from 4 till 7 p.m. at the Jack Funeral Home in Blair, visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church.

 

Gladys V. Anderson

(1/14/11) Gladys V. Anderson, age 99, of Black River Falls, WI. died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 in the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls.

    Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 in the Little Norway Lutheran Church, Hwy 54 W. of Black River 

 Falls.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 until 6 P.M. Sunday at Torgerson's Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St. and at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.

   Memorials may be given to either the Famiy Heritage Care Center, Little Norway Lutheran Church, or to Black River Memorial Hospice.

 

Victor G. Gilbertson

(1/12/12) Victor G. Gilbertson, age 95, of Black River Falls, Wi. died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 in the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 in the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.  Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 5 until 7:15 P.M.at Torgerson's Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St. Black River Falls and at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.  There will be a public Masonic Service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7 P.M.  Memorials may be given to the Parkside Residence, Family Heritage Care Center, or Black River Memorial Hospice.

 

Verna M. Halama

(1/11/12) Verna M. Halama, 93, of Independence, died Wednesday,  January 11, 2012, at Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall.

Verna was born December 16, 1918 in Arcadia Township, Trempealeau County, to Joseph and Annie (Kokott) Prudlick.  She married August Halama September 5, 1939 in Pampa, Texas.  He died January 26, 1984.

Verna loved her pets, gardening and the music by the Rhythm Playboys. She enjoyed her visits with George and Mary Jo Halama and receiving communion from them. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Women's Organization.

Verna is survived by a son, Sam (Mary Lou) Halama of Joplin, Mo., a daughter, Sally West of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jonny West, Jerry (Lois George) Baker, Robin Wyle, Debbie West, Scott Wright, Steve (Linda) Baker, Ronnie Ware and Chris West; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Sue Ware and Shirley Baker; a sister, Helen Matchey; four brothers, Tom, George, Pete and Andrew Prudlick and a grandson, Randy Ware.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
