Janice Chopp

(1-16-12)Janice Chopp, 75, of Black River Falls died Sunday at her home.  Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millston.  Burial will be in Shamrock Union Cemetery in the Town of Manchester, Jackson County, WI.  Friends may call from 4-7 PM Tuesday at Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Genevieve Anderson

(1-14-12)  ANDERSON, Genevieve, 91, of Black River Falls, died Saturday at Black River Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Somers Community United Church of Christ in Kenosha.  Burial will be in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls is assisting the family.

Gladys V. Anderson

(1/14/11) Gladys V. Anderson, age 99, of Black River Falls, WI. died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 in the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls.

    Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 in the Little Norway Lutheran Church, Hwy 54 W. of Black River 

 Falls.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 until 6 P.M. Sunday at Torgerson's Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St. and at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.

   Memorials may be given to either the Famiy Heritage Care Center, Little Norway Lutheran Church, or to Black River Memorial Hospice.

Verna M. Halama

(1/11/12) Verna M. Halama, 93, of Independence, died Wednesday,  January 11, 2012, at Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall.

Verna was born December 16, 1918 in Arcadia Township, Trempealeau County, to Joseph and Annie (Kokott) Prudlick.  She married August Halama September 5, 1939 in Pampa, Texas.  He died January 26, 1984.

Verna loved her pets, gardening and the music by the Rhythm Playboys. She enjoyed her visits with George and Mary Jo Halama and receiving communion from them. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Women's Organization.

Verna is survived by a son, Sam (Mary Lou) Halama of Joplin, Mo., a daughter, Sally West of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jonny West, Jerry (Lois George) Baker, Robin Wyle, Debbie West, Scott Wright, Steve (Linda) Baker, Ronnie Ware and Chris West; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Sue Ware and Shirley Baker; a sister, Helen Matchey; four brothers, Tom, George, Pete and Andrew Prudlick and a grandson, Randy Ware.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
