Braun Could be Out Until May 31st
(12/11/11) National League Most Valuable Player Ryan Braun is appealing a positive test for a banned substance, trying to avoid a 50-game suspension. ESPN quoted at least two sources for the story about the Milwaukee Brewers’ star. A spokesperson for Braun says there are unusual circumstances in the case which will support the outfielder’s complete innocence. The appeal isn’t likely to be decided until some time next month at the earliest. If his appeal fails, Braun wouldn’t be allowed to play for the Brewers until May 31st. Bran hit .312 with 33 home runs and 111 runs batted in last season.
