Here are the stories:
The 2012 Big Ten Conference football champions may have five losses, but they won the title game convincingly in Indianapolis Saturday. Rushing for 531 yards – including two runners topping 200 yards on the ground – the Wisconsin Badgers got revenge for a regular-season loss and demolished a pretty good Nebraska team 70-31. UW threw only 10 passes because it didn’t need to throw more. It dominated the line of scrimmage. Much like the first meeting, the Badgers scored the first two touchdowns, then Nebraska rallied to cut the lead to 14-10. It was a runaway after that, nothing like the first meeting. Montee Ball set an NCAA record for rushing touchdowns and extended his record for total TDs. He rushed for 201 yards and three scores, while Melvin Gordon torched the Cornhusker defense for another 217 on just nine carries. Everybody got into the act. James White rushed for 108 yards and scored four times, while also throwing a touchdown pass to Sam Arneson. Quarterback Curt Phillips caught a 27-yard pass from Jared Abbrederis as Wisconsin emptied out its playback, throwing everything at Nebraska. Marcus Cromartie returned a first-quarter interception 29 yards for a score. The rout means another trip to Pasadena and a third straight Rose Bowl berth for coach Bret Bielema and his team.

The Green Bay Packers try to beat Minnesota for a fifth straight time today in an NFC North showdown. Kickoff is at 12 noon. The Packers are trying to bounce back from their most lopsided defeat in nearly five years, a four touchdown loss to the New York Giants last Sunday night. The Packers are one game off the pace set by the Chicago Bears right now. And, the Vikings could get right back into the race with a win. At practices this week, the task has been clear – the rush defense has to get better and the Packers have to protect quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He was sacked five times by the Giants. The 38-10 loss ended the Packers winning streak. They will try to start another one on the home turf at Lambeau Field today.

Bucks big man Larry Sanders comes up with a double-double, one night after a triple double. This one led to victory. Sanders scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as Milwaukee bounced back to edge Boston at home 91-88 Saturday night. It wasn’t that simple. The Celtics had scored the first 17 points of the contest at the Bradley Center. The Celtics held a three-point, 88-85, lead with 1:44 to go, then Milwaukee scored the last six. Sanders had blocked 10 shots Friday and he got five more Saturday. Monta Ellis scored 17 points and handed out seven assists for the winners. Paul Pierce scored 19 to lead Boston, but the Celtics had to play without point guard Rajon Rondo, who was serving the second game of his suspension for fighting in a game against the Nets last week.

He was listed as doubtful Friday, but now wide receiver Percy Harvin has been ruled out for today’s game by the Minnesota Vikings. Harvin had been listed as doubtful for the Packer game. Now, he hasn’t traveled with the team to Lambeau Field. This will be the third straight missed game for Harvin, the Vikings best receiver. He had missed only three games in his first three seasons. Until he was hurt, Harvin had led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage. The Vikings split the two games they’ve played without him on the field. Meanwhile, the Packers have placed tight end Andrew Quarless and safety Sean Richardson on injured reserve. Quareless has been suffering with a knee injury since he was hurt last year. Richardson has a back injury. The Packers signed running back DuJuan Harris and wide receiver Jeremy Ross to fill the vacant roster spots. Both had been on the practice squad.

A four-goal explosion in the second period was enough to give cross-border rival a 4-1 victory over the Wisconsin women’s hockey team Saturday. The Gophers remain undefeated and ranked number-one in the country. A full house of 34 hundred fans stuffed Ridder Arena to watch the victory. Alex Rigsby made a season-high 37 saves in the loss, which dropped Wisconsin’s record to 10-5-2, including 6-5-2-2 in the WCHA. Brianna Decker scored Wisconsin’s only goal with a little over six and a half minutes remaining. The Badgers will try to end the Gophers’ 25-game winning streak in a 2 p.m. game today.

The Wisconsin men’s hockey team scored twice in the first 13 minutes and whipped Denver 3-1 Saturday in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game. It was the Badgers’ second victory of the season. Goals by Derek Lee and Nic Kerdiles in the first period were all they would need. John Ramage scored on a short-handed empty-net goal with nine seconds remaining. Wisconsin’s record improves to 2-7-3, including 2-5-3 in conference play. Denver outshot the Badgers 36-25, but goalie Landon Peterson was up to the challenge, making 35 saves.

The Milwaukee Brewers have announced they’ve made a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays for relief pitcher Burke Badenhop. The Brewers sent outfielder Raul Mondesi Junior to the American League team. Badenhop will turn 30 before spring training starts. He had a 3-2 record and a 3-point-0-3 earned run average while appearing in 66 games last season. Mondesi is the 20 year old son of a former National League All-Star outfielder. He hit .231 with five home runs in 68 games in the rookie league last summer.

Wisconsin native and former Marquette basketball coach Rick Majerus has died of heart failure. He was 64 years old. Majerus coached 25 years at four universities with only one season with a losing record. He had announced November 19th that the heart condition would keep him from coaching the St. Louis University Billikens this season. He had gone on leave last summer. Majerus was undergoing evaluation and treatment at a Los Angeles hospital when he died. He had a 517-and-216 won-loss record as a college coach.

A four under par 68 moves Wisconsin golfer Steve Stricker up the leaderboard at this weekend’s World Challenge in California. Stricker is four under for the tournament going into today’s final round. That’s good for a tie for eighth in the 18-player field. Graeme McDowell was in a three-way tie for the lead coming into Saturday, but he’s alone at the top now. McDowell is at 13 under par, good for a two-shot lead on Keegan Bradley and five shots on Tiger Woods. Stricker is nine shots off the pace.

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher killed himself Saturday morning at the team's facility, moments after allegedly killing his girlfriend. Belcher was 25 years old. According to Kansas City police, Belcher shot his girlfriend multiple times after the two had been engaged in an argument at home. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Minutes after the first shooting, police said Belcher drove to the Chiefs' training facility at Arrowhead Stadium and spoke with team personnel, including head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli, before taking his own life with a gunshot. A report from a Kansas City publication said Belcher and his girlfriend had a daughter, who was only a few months old. Belcher was in his fourth year with the Chiefs after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Maine. He started 10 of the 11 games he had played this season, registered 38 tackles. The Chiefs will play Carolina on Sunday at Arrowhead and the game will go on as scheduled.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL
A battle between the nation's second-and third-ranked teams came down to the wire, and No. 3 Georgia simply ran out of time. AJ McCarron's go-ahead 45-yard touchdown pass to Amari Cooper with 3:15 remaining lifted No. 2 Alabama to a 32-28 victory in the SEC Championship Game. The Crimson Tide, who are looking for their second straight national title and third in four years, will play No. 1 and undefeated Notre Dame in the BCS title game on Jan. 7, 2013. Aaron Murray guided the Bulldogs to the 8- yard line with less than 10 seconds remaining, but the clock ran out following his 3-yard completion to Chris Conley. Alabama ran for an SEC Championship- record 350 yards in the triumph.

The seventh-ranked Kansas State Wildcats are looking for the Big 12 Conference championship and an automatic bid to a BCS bowl game as they play host to the 23rd-ranked Texas Longhorns on Saturday night. While Kansas State's hopes of becoming national champions are dashed, it'll be able to claim the conference crown with a win or an Oklahoma loss.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Pierre Jackson had 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals, as the Baylor Bears took down eighth-ranked Kentucky, 64-55, ending the Wildcats' 54-game winning streak at Rupp Arena. Isaiah Austin and A.J. Walton added 11 points apiece for the Bears, who avenged a loss to these Wildcats in the Elite Eight of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. With Saturday's victory, Baylor improved to 1-7 all-time against Kentucky. Brady Heslip and Cory Jefferson each tallied 10 points for the Bears, who recorded the school's first non-conference road win against a ranked opponent. Archie Goodwin ended with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Wildcats, who failed to bounce back from a loss to Notre Dame on Thursday and stand a good chance to fall out of the top 10 once new rankings are released on Monday.

BASEBALL
The Boston Red Sox have signed outfielder Jonny Gomes to a two-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed, but a Boston newspaper had previously reported the deal to be worth $10 million. Gomes helped Oakland to an AL West title last season, batting .262 in 99 games with 18 homers and 47 runs batted in. He had a career-high .377 on-base percentage, including a .404 mark after the All-Star break, and led the majors with a .480 batting average with two outs and runners in scoring position. The 32-year-old native of California is familiar with the AL East, having played for Tampa Bay from 2003-08.
