Randy Herman, a native of Pleasantville, Wi., began his radio career in nearby Whitehall at WHTL in 1988. He worked the station part-time as an on-air announcer and sportscaster. He also initiated and hosted the popular “Old Time Hour” Sunday morning music request show and was dubbed “Polkamaster” by area listeners. Randy has also worked at WLSO Public Radio in LaCrosse and has also hosted the local TCC-TV cable program “Spotlite on Sports.” Randy joined the WWIS staff in 1991 providing play-by-play coverage of our area high school football and basketball teams. One of Randy’s most memorable sports broadcasts involved Blair-Taylor at Independence in a boys basketball game, which Blair-Taylor finally won 102-101 in 5 overtimes in 1995. Randy remains active in his sparetime with his family, farming, hunting, and playing fast-pitch softball.
